A car in the wall. Same day on site.
A residential vehicle impact in Oxford, attended within hours of Sedgwick's instruction. Property made safe, heating restored, weathertight before nightfall.
An emergency claim, instructed through Sedgwick.
A vehicle had reversed into a residential property in Oxford. The car was embedded in the wall, brickwork was exposed, the radiator was damaged and the home was unliveable. The instruction came through Sedgwick.
Vehicle impact claims do not give you time to plan. The property has to be made structurally safe, sealed against weather and intrusion, and warm again, ideally all in one visit. Anything slower and the policyholder is either out of their home or watching the original loss get worse by the hour.
Nationserv mobilised a specialist team to Oxford the same day, with the kit and the trades to handle every part of the make safe under one instruction.
Three things, before dark.
The technical scope was straightforward. The window was not.
Three things had to happen the same day. The building envelope had to be sealed, otherwise the next rain would be inside. The heating had to be safe to run, otherwise the family lost the rest of the house too. And the wall had to be propped where the structural elements had been compromised, otherwise no one could enter the property safely.
Working around an impacted vehicle, displaced masonry and live services, the priority was protecting the policyholder's ability to stay in their home that night.
Mobilise, make safe, hand back.
Same day attendance
Specialist team mobilised to Oxford within hours of Sedgwick's instruction. Trades and kit dispatched together, no second visit required.
Debris cleared
Broken masonry, displaced internal finishes and impact debris carefully removed from inside and outside the property. Site made navigable.
Heating restored
The damaged radiator was isolated and capped. Heating restored to the rest of the property the same day, keeping the home warm overnight.
Structural propping
Temporary propping installed where the impact had compromised the wall. Property made safe to enter and occupy until the full structural repair.
Boarded and insulated
The damaged area was boarded with plywood, the opening insulated, and the building envelope sealed against weather and intrusion overnight.
Handed back
Property handed back to the policyholder safe, warm and weathertight. Reinstatement progressing under the same Nationserv project team.
Vehicle impact claims are won on the first day. If the homeowner is still in their bed that night, warm and dry, with the wall sealed and the heating on, you have done the job. Everything after is reinstatement. The first day is the test.Rhys Morosco Chief Executive Officer, Nationserv
